Comfort, Texas is a small Hill Country town with a historic main street, local shops, and a relaxed pace. Why is Comfort, Texas called Comfort?

It was called Camp Comfort thinking it was going to get easier and better. It didn’t get easier, so they dropped the name “Camp” and it became Comfort, Texas.

What is the history of Comfort, Texas?

Comfort was founded by German emigrants on the western end of the Texas–German belt. Many residents are descendants of those early settlers, and the town is known for its German heritage and large surrounding ranches.

Where is Comfort located?

Comfort is right along I-10 about 30 minutes north of San Antonio. It’s about 25 minutes to Fredericksburg, 25 minutes to Kerrville, and 34 minutes to Bandera, making it an ideal location for reaching the heart of the Hill Country.
